Dr. Abdul Shaikh is Global Leader for Population Health for Amazon Web Services (AWS). He is responsible for developing cloud native solutions and partner strategies in digital health, remote patient monitoring, machine learning and generative AI for clinical and public health. Dr. Shaikh brings more than 20 years of experience helping healthcare providers, payors, researchers, governments and nonprofits work backwards from their goals to harness data for more equitable, efficient, and person-centered care. Prior to AWS, Dr. Shaikh was the Population Health Leader for PwC and Guidehouse, heading strategy, design and organization transformation, and served as a Program Officer at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and ONC. His professional activities include serving on the HIMSS SDOH Committee, AWS Health Equity Initiative Review Committee, and the National Academy of Medicine’s Digital Health Action Collaborative. Dr. Shaikh’s work has been featured in national outlets such as Becker’s Hospital Review, Wired, and the Wall Street Journal, and he is a regular speaker at industry, government and scientific meetings on AI, cloud, SDOH, and digital health innovation. He trained in public health and health services research at the University of Toronto and University of Michigan, and completed his post-doc at NIH as a Cancer Prevention Fellowship.
