Susannah Bernheim, MD, MHS, is the Chief Quality Officer and Acting Chief Medical Officer at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Innovation Center. She provides clinical leadership for the CMS Innovation Center and strategic leadership on quality measurement for novel health care payment and service delivery models.
She was previously an Associate Professor at Yale University School of Medicine in General Internal Medicine. Her research focuses on health care quality, new payment policies, and health care disparities. Previously she was Senior Director of Quality Measurement at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Centers for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), where she led work to develop the next generation of performance measures across multiple care settings.
She completed her undergraduate degrees at Yale University and her medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). After postgraduate training in Family Medicine at UCSF, Dr. Bernheim was a fellow in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program at Yale University.
