Ileana Acosta is the Program Director for the Hotspotting the Overdose Epidemic Program (The Hotspotting Program). The program combines technology and data to identify individuals most at-risk of overdose and engage them before an adverse event by using a person-centered, peer-led care management model.

Ileana has over 12 years’ experience in behavioral health, specializing in the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. She received her Bachelor’s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Forensic Psychology, and her Master’s degree from NYU – (School of Culture, Education and Human Development) in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness. In 2016, Ileana was recognized by the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation as a recipient for the 20 under 40 award, specifically for her transformative work in the development and expansion of Richmond University Medical Center’s (RUMC) Silberstein Center, the Hospitals largest outpatient substance use program.

In her most recent role at RUMC, she served as the program manager for multiple OASAS and DOHMH adult and adolescent programs. She was responsible for clinical oversight, incident reporting and response, performance improvement projects, and audit response in order to achieve certification and ensure continuous funding. In 2024, Ileana was featured on RUMC’s “Vital Signs” television series, discussing drug trends and the opioid epidemic on Staten Island.

Drawing on her vast experience in behavioral health and program development, Ileana plays an integral role in the expansion and continued success for the Hotspotting Program.
