Dr. April Prather is a native of Mobile, AL. She earned her doctorate of pharmacy from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 2015. After graduating, Dr. Prather completed a 2-year postdoctoral managed care fellowship through the University of Kentucky, obtaining a master's degree in Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy. Her foundation in managed care was established through Know Your Rx Coalition, a governmental purchasing collaborative that helps employers in non-profit higher education, health care and the public sector save money on the prescription benefits they provide employees and retirees while improving outcomes and access to pharmaceutical care. Dr. Prather transitioned to Kentucky Medicaid in December 2021 where she is currently the Associate Director of Pharmacy Services and Clinical Manager for MCO members. In her role, she oversees the single pharmacy benefit manager for Kentucky Medicaid’s six MCO partners.
