Equitable access to high-quality behavioral care is a challenge, despite efforts to improve coverage parity and network adequacy. A recent NCQA white paper highlighted an inconsistently defined behavioral health workforce that has historically excluded qualified providers from plan networks, limiting access to care and creating administrative burden and financial stress. This presentation will review the consequences, and outline NCQA’s work to assess and recommend improvements to behavioral health network adequacy.
