Susan Perez is a health services researcher whose research focuses on centering the voices, needs and experiences of birthing people in policy, education, measurement, and quality improvement. She has collaborated with the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Center, the National Birth Equity Collaborative, Reproductive Health Impact, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the California Healthcare Foundation, and the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative to address health inequities through multifaceted approaches such as, measure development, policy, health education campaigns, and provider education and tools.  

Susan has experience as a prenatal medical assistant, reproductive health educator, and quality improvement coordinator in federally qualified health clinics (FQHCs) in the California Central Valley and a volunteer doula. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health at Sacramento State University. Prior to her appointment at Sacramento State, Susan completed a postdoctoral fellowship in quality, safety, and comparative effectiveness research and earned a doctorate in Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership program at the University of California, Davis.
