Tiffany M. Wiggins, MD, MPH, FACOG joined the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) as Vice President and Chief Health Equity Officer in March 2024. An obstetrician-gynecologist, preventive medicine physician, and health equity enthusiast, she brings invaluable policy, public health, and clinical experience in advancing health equity across UMMS and throughout Maryland.
For nearly a decade prior to her current role, Dr. Wiggins served as a medical officer with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and maternal health advisor with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She is a former White House Fellow and Medical Justice in Advocacy Fellow.
As UMMS Chief Health Equity Officer, Dr. Wiggins oversees an innovative, people-centered portfolio spanning systemwide health equity strategic planning, exploration of race-based clinical algorithms, and data-driven initiatives to address inequities in clinical care. Recently appointed to the Maryland Commission on Health Equity, she will also provide expertise and leadership on state-level initiatives to achieve optimal health for all Marylanders through innovation in healthcare payment and care delivery.
Dr. Wiggins completed her dual residency training with Johns Hopkins. She earned a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Harvard College, a Doctor of Medicine degree from Harvard Medical School, and a Master of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Wiggins lives in Baltimore and counts her most important roles as wife and mother to two beautiful girls.
