Dr. Maia Hightower, MD, MPH, MBA is CEO & Founder of Veritas Healthcare Insights, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in responsible healthcare AI integration and digital transformation. A physician-executive and scholar, she previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Technology Officer at University of Chicago Medicine, where she led enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives for the $4B academic health system.

Her academic leadership spans multiple academic medical centers, including Chief Medical Information Officer roles at University of Utah Health and University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, and Medical Director at Stanford Health Care. Her research and publications focus on algorithmic fairness and responsible AI, including recent co-authored works in JAMA, NEJM AI and Health Affairs.

As founder and CEO of Equality AI, an AI quality assurance healthcare technology company. Her advocacy for safe and responsible AI has influenced federal and international healthcare policy at NCQA, AHRQ, NIH, ONC, CMS, and WHO. With over fifteen years of executive leadership in healthcare IT, medical affairs, and population health, Dr. Hightower brings executive and clinical insights from academic medicine, population health, and healthcare technology innovation.

Dr. Hightower received her BA from Cornell University, MD and MPH from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego, and earned her MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
