Brian Carlsen, is a computer scientist and healthcare terminology expert. He has more than 20 years of experience developing tooling to browse, author, publish, and implement standard healthcare terminologies in a variety of contexts and for a variety of organizations from government agencies, standards development organizations, and private sector companies. He was instrumental in the National Library of Medicine's development of RXNORM as the standard drug terminology for the United States in the early 2000s. As an active participant in the SNOMED International community since its founding in 2007, he has served on various technical committees and advisory boards and speaks and presents regularly at the annual conference.
