Melissa Mitchell is a seasoned healthcare leader and executive with over 15 years of progressive experience in community health center operations and strategy. She currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of HealthLinc, Inc., a federally qualified health center (FQHC) serving communities across northern Indiana. In this role, Melissa leads organizational strategy, clinical innovation, and operational excellence to expand access to high-quality, patient-centered care for diverse populations.
Before assuming the CEO role in 2024, she held multiple leadership positions at HealthLinc, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer, where she drove organizational growth, technology integration, and care delivery improvements. Her extensive career also includes leadership in managed care, information systems, and multidisciplinary team management, reflecting her breadth of expertise across clinical operations and administrative domains.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Ball State University and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University. She is also a graduate of the Johnson & Johnson Health Care Executive Program at UCLA and holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, underscoring her commitment to data-driven improvement and organizational efficiency.
An active voice in the national FQHC arena, Melissa serves on key committees and boards — including serving as the vice chair for the Food is Health subcommittee for the National Association of Community Health Centers, the Indiana Primary Health Care Association board, and the State Public Health Data Advisory Committee — advocating for community health and policy advancement.
Melissa’s leadership has been recognized locally and regionally; she was named to the NWI Times “20 Under 40” class and selected as one of The Leadership Institute & Society of Innovators 2024 Women on the Rise.
A native Hoosier, she lives in Knox, Indiana with her husband and three children, where she remains deeply engaged in community service and local initiatives.
