Ari Robicsek, MD joined NCQA in 2026 as its inaugural Chief Medical Officer. He is a physician-executive and a nationally recognized leader in healthcare analytics and innovation. 

Before joining NCQA, Ari served as Executive Vice President and Chief Analytics & Research Officer at Providence, a $30 billion health system. He directed a 400-person team across enterprise analytics, research and genomics. His teams specialized in harnessing data to improve clinical care, drive operational improvement and aid scientific discovery. 

While at Providence, Ari also established the Providence Clinical Innovation Institute, which raised over $35 million to test digital technology and new models of care in real-world settings. His teams were pioneers in AI research, notably co-developing Prov-GigaPath, an open-weight foundation model for digital pathology. Ari was also an early advisor to Truveta, a national health system-owned data and analytics collective. 

Ari’s academic interests have been broad, spanning basic science, epidemiology and health services research. His research has been published in JAMA, Nature and Cell, and has been cited more than 15,000 times. An area of particular interest is understanding and evaluating medical decision-making. He is also the founder of Arclight Intelligence, a consultancy that has advised health tech ventures and large healthcare providers on data strategy and AI implementation. 

Ari earned his medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Harvard Medical School.
