Dr Chris Wroe is a senior clinical informatician with a special interest in clinical decision support, knowledge representation and data interoperability standards. He has had a diverse career spanning clinical medicine, academic informatics research, health IT deployment, digital transformation in the pharmaceutical industry, and medical publishing. He has presented and published in the health informatics, bioinformatics, and computer science communities, in subjects ranging from drug terminology development to bioinformatics workflow systems. He currently heads a team at BMJ, leading the development of machine interpretable clinical decision support content. Dr Wroe received a degree in Neurobiology from Cambridge University UK, before receiving his MD from the same university. After leaving clinical practice, he worked under Professor Alan Rector, and Professor Carole Goble at the University of Manchester. Dr Wroe received his health IT industry experience at BT Global Services, working on the deployment of EPR systems in London. Recognising the central need for knowledge management he then joined BMJ.
