Dr. Virginia (Ginger) Kakacek is the Chief Medical Officer for HealthPartners Health Plans. Prior to her role as Chief Medical Officer, she served as Vice President and Senior Medical Director in the HealthPartners Health and Care Engagement Department. HealthPartners provides coverage to members in Commercial, Self-insured, Individual, Medicaid, Medicare and MSHO products. 

Her clinical work continues in both the clinic and hospital settings within Family Medicine through the Park Nicollet Health System clinics and Methodist Hospital. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine and has worked with the Creekside Family Medicine Residency Training Program for over 20 years. Family Medicine has provided an opportunity to provide a wide variety of care beyond clinic based primary care throughout her career including obstetrics, colposcopy, and work in a primary care skin clinic. Her undergraduate degree is in Business Administration with minors in Economics and Human Resources and she completed her medical degree at the University of MN Medical School. During medical school she worked as a graduate assistant where her responsibilities included supporting a primary research study compiling data associated with early tPA treatment outcomes for stroke care and outcomes throughout various community and rural hospitals.  

Outside of work Ginger enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, gardening, live music, outdoor recreation and attending local sporting events and the activities of her kids.
