Description

Healthcare organizations are increasingly expected to identify, measure, and act on disparities, yet many continue to face practical challenges in selecting equity measures, stratifying data, building useful dashboards, and translating findings into leadership action. This session will present results from a mixed-methods evaluation of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s white paper Advancing Health Equity: An Approach to Systematically Identify and Evaluate Health Disparities. Drawing on survey responses from global users of the guidance, presenters will share how the framework has been used across healthcare settings, what barriers and enabling conditions shaped implementation, and how the guidance influenced measurement practices, leadership conversations, and organizational decision-making. Participants will leave with practical insights into what supports successful health equity measurement in real-world settings, common challenges organizations encounter, and opportunities to strengthen guidance, tools, and technical assistance for the field.
