Dr. Matthew Burton is a Co-Editor of the HL7 Clinical Practice Guidelines Implementation Guide (CPG-IG) and active contributor to the FHIR Clinical Reasoning Module. He is a recognized expert in knowledge engineering for clinical reasoning, spanning computable clinical and care processes, prior authorization policies, and quality measures. He has prior leadership roles at Mayo Clinic’s Applied Clinical Informatics Program and faculty appointments at Regenstrief, Mayo Clinic, and Arizona State. His current focus is agentic, expert-in-the-loop approaches to the knowledge engineering lifecycle, applying AI to accelerate authoring, validation, and maintenance of FHIR Clinical Reasoning content at scale.
